DETACHMENT 1405

                                                                                                                                      Minutes 1st Oct, 2019

The meeting was called to order by Commandant Janice Hartley and declared open for business by acting Sgt. at Arms Chuck Covert at 7:00 PM.  There were 8 members present. Role call absent Ray Lopez Sergeant-at-Arms,Jr. Past Commandant Matt Giustiniano and Veterans Svc Oficer Mary Kientzy. Present were Commandant Janice Hartley, Sr. Vice Commandant Chuck Covert,Junnior Vice Commandant Lester Koeling, Judge Advocate Robert Smith Adjutant Jim Hartley, Paymaster Hugh Nisbet Jr. Chaplin Herb Brune and Web Sergeant Jim Hartley.

PROSPECTIVE NEW MEMBERS: none

Minutes: Motion to accept minutes as posted on the web page by Hugh Nisbet 2nd by Chuck Covert motion passed.  Minutes accepted and filed.

FINANCE REPORT: read by Hugh Filed for audit.

CORRESPONDENCE:  Received a Citation from National Junior Vice Commander for Meritorious performance for exceeding membership goals.
Received a certificate of appreciation from Trees for Troops for our participation.   
Received Certificate for Vietnam War Commemoration Partner from Sectary of Defense, so now we can hand out lapel pins for that to Vets. They will send us the material to handout.
 
SICK AND/OR IN DISTRESS: Don Bell wasn’t feeling well couldn’t make meeting. Deb Browns Brother was hit by a car and in hospital.


REPORT OF OFFICERS: Commandant Midwest conference reported new data base not working projecting December. Midwest Spring Conference is April 17th and 18th in Wichita, KS you can’t make reservation until 6th of January.
Senior Vice Chuck said he needs names of guest speakers you would like to attend our meetings to make them more fun. Please contact him.
Paymaster Hugh Nisbet says he is running for Division Vice Commandant and needs your support by attending the Spring Conference in April. Reason being at that meeting the votes are counted by how many people are on the floor and everyones vote counts.
Toys for Tots Chuck reported he has sign-up sheets for standing watch to collect starting 3rd Nov see him to get signed up or call. Chuck said Deb Brown reported we got in as top ten in the Nation for Toys for Tots and Chuck reported a lot of that is for what we do and Deb’s hard work with all the paperwork that has to be done properly.

STANDING COMMITTEES:  Raffle for Toys for Tots ongoing doing good only a few more tickets to sell. Drawing at next meeting.

Good of the League: While at Fall Conference their was a young female marine that had come home on leave after Boot camp and was involved in a serious accident some passengers killed she survived. She had everything fixed but her hand can’t feed herself but can do everything else. She was a inspiration to everyone at conference she worked tirelessly the whole time. So for those who say you can’t do something take a look at her.

Devil Dog Growl will be 12 Oct at VFW Wentzville at 09:00.
Note Commandant said we only have a few members not paid yet.
